Latest NDIS changes in 2026 — and what they mean for you

We keep this page current and publish a fuller explainer in the weekly blog whenever something material shifts.

Your existing plan does not change until it is reassessed or varied. Nothing here replaces the wording of your own plan — always check ndis.gov.au for the current rules.

New framework plans

What changed
Plans state a total whole-of-plan budget with flexible and stated components instead of many separate category budgets.
Who it affects
Applies as each participant's plan comes up for reassessment.
What to do
Bring a current functional assessment and goal-linked therapy reports to your reassessment.
Rolling out

Funding periods

What changed
Budgets are released in instalments (commonly quarterly) rather than all at once.
Who it affects
Participants receiving new framework plans.
What to do

NDIS supports lists

What changed
Legislated lists define what is and is not an NDIS support. Mainstream health, rent, groceries and general consumer items sit outside the scheme.
Who it affects
All participants.
What to do
If a support you rely on sits near the boundary, get it documented against a plan goal.
Annual

Pricing arrangements and price limits

What changed
Price limits, therapy rate alignment, travel and cancellation rules are updated each year.
Who it affects
All participants and providers.
What to do
Check your invoices against your service agreement whenever a new price guide lands.
In force

Worker screening and the Code of Conduct

What changed
Risk-assessed roles require a valid NDIS Worker Screening Check; the Code of Conduct binds registered and unregistered providers alike.
Who it affects
All participants.
What to do
You may ask any provider to confirm a worker's clearance status.
Watch

Provider registration reform

What changed
Government has signalled a graduated registration model for more provider types, including some currently unregistered supports.
Who it affects
Providers first, participants indirectly through provider choice.
What to do
No action yet — we will report timelines as they are confirmed.
