Rumours travel faster than rules. Here are the five official NDIS pages we check every week, and how to use them to confirm anything you hear.
Most of the worry we hear each week comes from second-hand information — a social media post, a message in a group chat, something a worker mentioned. The rules themselves live in a handful of public places, and once you know them you can settle almost any question in a few minutes.
1. Is this support funded?
The NDIS publishes a guide called Would we fund it, which explains how planners decide what the scheme will and won't pay for. If someone tells you a support is banned or newly allowed, this is the page that answers it.
2. Has the price changed?
Price limits sit in the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits document. It is updated during the year, so check the version date at the front. A limit is a ceiling — a provider may charge less, and your rate must still be agreed in your service agreement before it is claimed.
3. Has the law changed?
The NDIS keeps a running summary of legislation changes, including which ones have already started and which are still being designed. That page is the difference between "coming" and "in force".
4. Why was a decision made?
Our Guidelines explain how the NDIA applies the reasonable and necessary test. If a request was refused, read the matching guideline before writing your response — it tells you exactly what evidence the decision-maker was looking for.
5. Something went wrong
Quality and conduct issues go to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission on 1800 035 544. You do not have to complain to your provider first, and you can bring a free advocate.
This week's one action: bookmark the five links at the bottom of this post. Next time you hear an NDIS rumour, check it there before you change anything about your supports.
How we publish
We post every Monday. Every factual claim is checked against the official NDIS and Commission pages listed below, and each post links back to them so you can read the source yourself.
